An artistic expression

about me

ABOUT ME

Born in Madrid, but living between Málaga and Berlin. Few years ago, while in Berlin, I enrolled in a ceramic workshop  and quickly realized how much I enjoyed working with clay and drenching my hands in that soft, moist mass. I was so taken with the experience that I made the decision to learn more about the field of ceramics.

CREATING CERAMICS

After extensive experimentation and an ongoing, self-taught journey of learning, I’ve made the decision to integrate the craft of ceramics—working with my hands—into my professional life as a graphic designer and photographer at www.smooth-step.com.

INSPIRED BY NATURE

The imperfect perfection of Nature.

Inspired by the beauty in nature, it´s the organic forms where straight lines are rare to the eye—I felt drawn to play, explore, and shape unique ceramic forms. My aim is to create one-of-a-kind patterns that honor both functionality and the beautifully broken, perfect imperfections that arise naturally in the creative process.

MAKING POTTERY, INCREDIBLY CREATIVE & SATISFYING

There is immense joy in the entire process—imagining new forms, shaping clay with your hands, experimenting with glazes, and finally holding the finished piece. Each step is a blend of creativity, craftsmanship, and quiet satisfaction.

Creating
through senses

All crafts were once created by the hands of skilled artists and artisans. However, with the rise of industrialization and mass production, many traditional workshops and craftspeople have gradually disappeared. In today’s fast-paced, globalized world, the value of handmade work has often been diminished—overlooked in favor of speed, convenience, and uniformity.

Yet in this rapidly evolving world, more and more of us feel the need to slow down—to appreciate handmade goods, embrace a different pace of life, and reconnect with authenticity.

There is a quiet but powerful significance in bringing back small shops and ateliers, each infused with a personal, human touch. These spaces not only revive traditional crafts but also help rebuild local identity and support the growth of neighborhood and community-based economies.

This shift allows us to grow at a gentler, more intentional rhythm—one that invites us to truly savor life, experience it more deeply, and find joy in the simple, meaningful moments.

I started this small ceramic project with great enthusiasm—as a way to reconnect with old traditions, get my hands dirty, draw inspiration from nature, and create handmade pottery. It’s a journey into a slower rhythm of life, one that values time, nurtures creativity, and celebrates the joy of doing what I love.

HOW CERAMICS WORK

In our Blog section you will find a brief description of the ceramic process, where I quickly describe the ceramic process and the procedures required to create a ceramic object, starting with the preparation of the clay and moving on to the many types of modeling, drying, coloring, glazing, etc.

From the initial clay preparation to the last firing required to produce the finished ceramic object, I have outlined all the fundamental steps.

THE PROJECT

I love the beauty and the visuals, be it in design, in art, graphic design, architecture, paintings, sculptures, etc.
I have designed the logo, created the website, and done the photography for this project. This allows me to be involved and enjoy every detail of the creative process of this project, from the production of the ceramic pieces to their visual presentation.

THE NAME

ARTEKERAMIKO is the name of this small yet meaningful project. The name is short, clean, and easy to remember, reflecting the simplicity and elegance at its core.

The initials AK serve as a natural abbreviation of Artekeramiko, offering a concise and recognizable identity for the project.

THE FISHES

In many ancient cultures, life is believed to have originated from water, making fish a powerful symbol of life’s beginnings.

Fish are often associated with prosperity, transformation, rebirth, creativity, abundance, and fertility—both in the physical and spiritual realms. Because they dwell in water, fish also embody the emotional and spiritual dimensions of existence.

The two fish in the logo symbolize abundance in both the material world and the spiritual realm.
