BARROS Y ARCILLAS<\/h1>\n

QU\u00c9 ES LA ARCILLA?<\/h2>\n

La arcilla es una roca sedimentaria descompuesta<\/strong> \u00a0y se forma de manera natural a partir de la erosi\u00f3n y desgaste medioambiental.<\/p>\n

Cuando este grano fino se mezcla con agua resulta en un material pl\u00e1stico y maleable con el que se confeccionan diferentes piezas y utensilios\u00a0 desde la aparici\u00f3n del hombre, vasijas, vasos, platos, ladrillos, elementos de decoraci\u00f3n, escultura, etc.<\/p>\n

Una vez cocida, la arcilla se convierte en cer\u00e1mica<\/strong>, y con ella, los ceramistas producen un sinf\u00edn de todo tipo de objetos de uso cotidiano y decorativo.<\/p>\n

CU\u00c1L ES LA ARCILLA PRIMARIA ?<\/h2>\n

La arcilla primaria es aquella que se encuentra en el lugar en el que se origin\u00f3 y no han sido transportadas ni por viento ni por agua.<\/p>\n

Es una arcilla muy escasa y muy pura.<\/p>\n

Son arcillas poco pl\u00e1sticas y muy duras<\/strong> por lo que es escasamente usada por el ceramista.<\/p>\n

Principalmente se usa de forma calcinada en la construcci\u00f3n confiriendo mucha dureza.<\/p>\n

La arcilla primaria m\u00e1s conocida es el caol\u00edn.<\/p>\n

EL CAOL\u00cdN<\/h3>\n

El caol\u00edn es una arcilla primaria poco pl\u00e1stica y muy refractaria por lo que se deber\u00e1 mezclar con otras arcillas m\u00e1s pl\u00e1sticas y otros materiales para hacerla m\u00e1s manejable y para que se puedan cocer a temperaturas m\u00e1s bajas.<\/p>\n

Esta arcilla primaria tambi\u00e9n llamada residual es la base principal para la porcelana.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=\u00bb1\/3″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

CU\u00c1NTOS TIPOS DE ARCILLA HAY?<\/h2>\n

El ceramista, escultor y\/o alfarero escoger\u00e1n aquella que m\u00e1s se ajuste a lo que quieran elaborar, lo que m\u00e1s les suele interesar es la plasticidad<\/strong> que tiene la arcilla, as\u00ed como la textura, el color, la temperatura a la que se debe cocer y \u00a0la dureza que pueda alcanzar.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=\u00bb1\/3″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

QU\u00c9 SON LAS ARCILLAS SECUNDARIAS ?<\/h2>\n

Las arcillas secundarias son aquellas que han sido transportadas y erosionadas por vientos, agua y otros agentes meteorol\u00f3gicos y depositadas en capas sedimentarias en diferentes lugares. Estas arcillas son m\u00e1s pl\u00e1sticas que las anteriores, contienen m\u00e1s hierro y \u00f3xido y se funden a temperaturas m\u00e1s bajas. Es com\u00fanmente conocida como arcilla de bola<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

EL GR\u00c9S<\/h3>\n

El gres es el resultado de mezclar arcillas secundarias naturales y arcillas vitrificantes que le confieren las principales caracter\u00edsticas que son la impermeabilidad<\/strong> y la opacidad. El gres posee gran plasticidad y se suele utilizar para esmaltes de alta temperatura.<\/p>\n

ARCILLA REFRACTARIA<\/h3>\n

La arcilla refractaria es una arcilla secundaria que tiene un gran contenido de impurezas. Se suele usar principalmente para la fabricaci\u00f3n de ladrillos, cazuelas de barro, etc. Es una arcilla muy resistente a altas temperaturas. Tambi\u00e9n sirve para la elaboraci\u00f3n de chamota<\/strong>, una vez que es cocido y molido al grano deseado.<\/p>\n

BARRO ROJO DE SUPERFICIE<\/h3>\n

Es la m\u00e1s com\u00fan de todas y es la utilizada por la mayor\u00eda de alfareros para modelar hacer recipientes. Tiene un alto contenido en \u00f3xido de hierro que le confieren el color t\u00edpico rojizo terracota<\/strong>, es muy fina y f\u00e1cil de manejar en el torno.<\/p>\n

BENTONITA<\/h3>\n

La bentonita es de procedencia volc\u00e1nica elaborada a partir de las cenizas<\/strong>.
